Postpartum Belly Binding

The transition that happens during birth of moving baby out of mother's body and into the world has obvious physical changes, as well as energetic and emotional shifts. In traditional cultures, where birth and the postpartum time is sacred for baby, mother and family, there are a variety of rituals for bonding as well as nurturing mother back to physical strength and supporting her in her new role as a mother. A literal and metaphoric space is now open and empty and needs to be sealed back up. Belly binding is one way to begin to bring mother's body back together.

Physically wrapping the hips and lower core body begins to draw the muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and organs back in. This support helps the muscles to return to their pre-pregnancy state, can assist the back with proper posture for nursing, flattens the belly and can even create a sense of warmth, grounding and calm. While binding every day for a month would not hurt, I offer several binding packages.
