    Birth and Pregnancy Coaching

    What questions do you have about birth? What do you need help with in pregnancy? Maybe you don’t have time for a full childbirth class. Or maybe this is not your first birth so you don’t feel like you need a whole class, but you still have questions! Instead of being in a class setting, you will have my undivided attention and we can traverse whatever topics or questions that you have. You get to pick my brain.

    Yoga for Trauma Healing

    Yoga is an ancient and accessible form of movement and meditation. While most of the yoga that is available these days in the West is fitness-based, yoga is so much more! While yoga is an ancient science of the mind and aims to “yoke” or join the body with the mind, it is also a modern tool for understanding our nervous systems. New modalities of healing including psychology, Somatic Experiencing and trauma release map on well to the framework of yoga. The simple and accessible practices and experiences that a yoga session can offer can be inherently trauma healing.

    A private Yoga for Trauma healing session can look and feel very much like a regular yoga session, except that I will check in with you frequently and process the real-time experience. We will also use tools from other modalities to tailor the session to your specific needs. We always end with a long savasana (deep relaxation).

    Dawn creates an ambience of warmth and safety. She doesn’t pressure you to know “where to start”, but she does guide you through the complex process of postpartum emotions. She guided me to accept the experience and what is. However, she never encouraged me to discount my experience by saying anything like “at least you have a healthy baby!” It matters how I feel too, and I felt that completely with Dawn. The icing on the cake was the guided meditation. I had no idea I’d be on a journey not only to accept myself and my body today, but also to accept the past versions of myself going back years. It was so cathartic, and I was surprised when I almost started sobbing at the end of the mediation. If you’re wondering if you should do this with Dawn, don’t, and just do it! It really was a mind altering experience for me in the most positive way.

    What to expect in a Reiki session with Dawn

    For in-person reiki, your session will take place on a reiki/massage table where you will lie down with pillows and blankets and relax. We will set an intention before the session and you may ask questions of your Higher Self or spirit helpers. The majority of the session is done silently. While reiki is called “hands-on healing” there is generally no touching involved. Rather, my hands hover a few inches away from your body within your energy field. When finished, I will guide you back to the present where we can process any emotions, thoughts or insights you may have experienced. And don’t worry if “nothing happens” while you rest, plenty of work is being done in the subconscious and energy fields.

    For a virtual session, (called “distance reiki.”) we will connect via Zoom. You will need a place where you can relax quietly and uninterrupted (like your bed). We will set an intention before the session and you may ask questions of your Higher Self or spirit helpers. While you rest, I will send reiki via an “avatar”. When finished, I will guide you back to the present where we can process any emotions, thoughts or insights you may have experienced. And don’t worry if “nothing happens” while you rest, plenty of work is being done in the subconscious and energy fields.

    Sessions are 60 minutes.

     

    Mother Blessing Ceremony

    A Mother Blessing ceremony (sometimes called a Blessingway) is a gathering of the mother-to-be and her closest women family and friends to create a sacred bond of love, support and power as she prepares for the birth and the experience of motherhood. Each ceremony is unique to the mother and any rituals or traditions she is called to. The circle of women initiates a support team in the time of transition and through the powerful experience of birth. Because when the baby is born, a mother is also born, and she too needs to be received, nurtured and supported on her journey. A Mother Blessing is for a first-time mom or a fifth-time time - it doesn't matter how many children she has birthed, each experience is different and sacred.

    Ceremonies are excellent gifts for a new mother! They can be incorporated into a baby shower or as a baby shower gift to recognize the importance of mother in all this birth stuff! I offer gift certificates for Mother Blessing and Postnatal Sealing Ceremonies (I even accept "group" payments).

    Postnatal Reiki & Sealing Ceremony

    After the birth of a baby, regardless of the method, a space is open and empty within mother. The Postnatal Sealing Ceremony includes a cleansing ritual, blessings, use of essential oils and/or Reiki if desired, the "closing the bones" ritual and space for processing. The purpose of the ceremony is to close the physical and energetic doorways that were opened during the birth, to nurture the new mother so that she may nurture her new baby and to allow space for processing the events of the birth.

    After baby arrives a date will be set to hold the ceremony. I can come to your home and you only need a small, comfortable space on your floor for the ceremony. We work with and around baby, and I have given the ceremony while wearing a newborn.

    The Sealing Ceremony may also be appropriate for pregnancy loss in conjunction with a birth trauma and loss ceremony. This may include a cleansing ritual, Reiki, blessings, the "closing the bones" ritual and space for processing.

    Partners or other friends are welcome to attend if desired.

    As a person who has a rich experience with struggling with sleep and managing stress, my reiki session with Dawn was truly helpful and filled me with a tremendous sense of hope, inner-peace, and well-being.   After my session with Dawn, I noticed feeling more relaxed and a marked improvement in my quality of sleep the first few nights following my session. Toward the end of our session, I also discovered the benefits of incorporating easy-to-use practices that I can do with my child to support our sleep routines such as breathing and vocalizing to prepare our minds and bodies for rest. Overall, I look forward to continuing my wellness  journey through incorporating some of the breathing and vocal strategies she shared with me toward the end of our time together and incorporating Reiki into my wellness regimen.
